Personal Statement
I was raised playing football, baseball, basketball and soccer for city leagues, select teams, and club teams. I have always considered myself and athlete and believed that I have the ability, work ethic, and drive to play sports at the collegiate level. I found my passion on the football field during high school and set a goal for myself to play at the collegiate level. I am determined to see this goal become a reality. I realize this will require both hard work and dedication, but it is also a privilege and I am more than willing to put in the work, time, and effort.
"Jackson makes big plays to help Spartans top Everman" is the title of the first article written about me this season. It was written after our first district game and I continued to lead my team on defense all season long. As you can read in my stats, I'm 6'1'', 205 lbs. I realize that I am not the typical Defensive End size, but what I lack in size and make up ten fold in heart. I play big and make big plays. I am explosive on the ball, demonstrate quick feet, and have great use of my hands. I also know that I can play even bigger with the chance to play for collegiate coaches. I am constantly working to make improvements and willing to put in the work to get bigger, faster and stronger. I am coachable both on and off the field. I lead my team by example in work ethic, determination, drive, and attitude on the field, in the weight room, in and out of school. I want to be better and will work for a position and work to maintain it. You will find that I will not disappoint you, if given the opportunity to play.
I am a strong academic student. I was inducted into the National Honor Society as a Sophomore, selected to be an Ambassador as a Freshman by our principal. In my Junior year I was the only male high school student selected to represent all of Burleson ISD to speak on the behalf of what it takes to be a well rounded student to the Burleson Chamber of Commerce. In fact, in necessary I can obtain a letter or recommendation from any teacher, coach, principal, and the Superintendent of BISD. Most recently I was honored by being named the student of the month. I am conscientious about my grades and maintain a high GPA and believe that being well rounded is important. I also volunteered to work with our special education students to mentor them through a leadership program. I have been the only student athlete in my class during the last three years to letter in three sport: football, basketball, and baseball.
I have always planned to attend college. Now that my senior year is wrapping up I want to not just attend, but excel at a University both in the classroom and in their football program. Right now I have set myself in a good position with my grades to attend every school that I am interested in academically. I want to be given the honor to represent al college that I am suited for on the football field and in the classroom.
