From the time I learned to say "Hook 'Em Horns" and throw a football, I have dreamed of playing college football. My dad started coaching me when I was 5 and old enough to play organized youth football. Early on I played in the quarterback position, even though I loved playing linebacker just as much. I have continued to play in both positions throughout high school. My main position has been quarterback, with the exception of my sophomore year. That year I was moved to varsity, but I was back-up to the senior quarterback. Standing on the sidelines was not acceptable to me and I worked harder than ever to earn a starting position at linebacker. I had set a goal to play on Friday nights and that is what I did. I ended the season with first team All-District honors. My junior year I was moved back to QB and had a decent year, but our offense was centered around running the ball more than passing. I still threw for 1200 yard, 11 TD's, and 4 rushing TD's. We ended the season 7-3.
I am now entering my senior year and my goal is to lead my team to a District Championship, and then on to a State Championship. Our high school has won only one State Championship in 1986. When I entered high school I told my coach I wanted to add another title before I finished high school. I want this for my team and my community. We are a small school in a small town, but we have some very talented athletes who deserve an opportunity to play at the next level. For most of the athletes in my school, a scholarship to play ball is the only way for them to go to college. I want this for myself and my teammates.
I aspire to go to college and become a Physical Therapist. I want to work with athletes who have suffered injuries, and help them recover from those injuries. I have been fortunate not to have any injuries in my high school career, but I have seen others who have. I admire the strength and determination of those who have been faced with injuries. I feel that Physical Therapy would be a very rewarding career because I have a strong desire to help people.
