Personal Statement
I started playing football in the beginning of middle school and have dreamed of playing at the collegiate level ever since. Playing college football would be the opportunity of a lifetime and an incredible blessing. Since my freshman year, I have worked to improve my strength, conditioning, size, and speed, both on the during the season and in off-season programs.
In June 2014, a majority of the players on my high school team, and as a result, the coaching staff asked me to play quarterback and punter, as well as to be a team captain. I was willing to do whatever was asked of me by the coaches and was eager to learn. The fact remained, however, that I had never been a quarterback or a punter and had to rely on natural ability to get through the year.
Without training, I was named First Team All-State as a punter after the 2014 season. Although I am pleased with my accomplishment, I am confident that my skills will dramatically improve with additional practice and coaching.
Academically, I am in the Diploma Program at Westlake Academy, an International Baccalaureate charter school. I study hard to keep improving my GPA, which has been steadily rising since my freshman year. In addition, I am working to ensure that my SAT score will be comparable to that of my PSAT. I hope to attend a college where I can contribute to the football team and be challenged academically. It is my goal to be a leader at the college I attend and to become a role model who will represent myself, my family, and my school with honor.
