Personal Statement

My name is Connor Sharp and I am a Senior at White Oak High School in White Oak, Texas. We are a Class AA Division I School in the East Texas area. I am a varsity letter-man in four sports: football for 3 years, basketball for 4 years, baseball for 3 years and track in the one year that I competed. I am 6', weigh 180 pounds and run a consistent 4.6 in the 40 yard dash. The most important accomplishment in my career so far is that God has given me the ability to perform at a high level in all of my chosen sports. As a freshmen, I made varsity in two sports achieving 2nd team all-district in basketball and baseball. As a sophomore on varsity football I received the honor of Newcomer of the year in our class AA district. In basketball I made 1st team all-district and 3rd team All East Texas as a sophomore. My junior year I received the following accolades: 1st team kicker and punter and 2nd team quarterback in football, 2nd team All East Texas ( due to broken wrist and surgery I did not play enough games to qualify for district honors) in basketball. These accomplishments were due to trust in the Lord and a strong work ethic. I recently became the all time leading passer in White Oak history in single season passing yardage, career passing yardage, and touchdown passes thrown in a season. I also recently became the Offensive MVP of our Division I District 9AA football district. I am a leader in all task I am involved in, whether that be on the field, court or classroom. I am an officer in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was the president of my class my freshmen year. I give 110% with my daily commitment in athletics during the season and off-season. I am a loyal player, peer, and student for the White Oak Roughnecks. I feel it is my duty to be dedicated to myself, God, and my team in order for me to be able to achieve my goal and to get the best out of others around me. This goal being to play college sports at a high level of competition. I want to be on the field as a freshmen and contribute to the level of expectations needed of me. I am interested in going to a division I-division III college that offers an academic program involving Education/Coaching and/or Sports Medicine. I would like for this program to be involved with Christian Athletes and have a tradition of prime athletics. The size of the college is not that important to me as long as the level of competition in athletics is supreme. Being a born and bred Texan I would like to stay in the southern region of the United States, but am open to other opportunities. I have a strong desire to be a collegiate athlete....this is my longtime goal. My parents are recently divorced and I live with my mother and will be applying for scholarships and/or financial help with my college tuition. I hope that you will consider me a qualified scholarly athlete capable of playing on your team. If you will take the time to investigate me further you will see that my dedication, commitment to excellence, and inner strength as a young man will be an asset to your program. I look forward to hearing from you and I can't wait to hear about your school and the opportunities available to me next year! Thank you, Connor Sharp
