Personal Statement
- UPDATE: As of October 31, 2013: This season my average is 17 Yards per Reception and our team is currently Number 1 in the District. Currently 2nd in the District for Receiver Average Yardage. Total tackles and interceptions to be updated soon.
My name is Ian Vowels and I am currently a Senior at Liberty High School in Virginia. My height is 6'2" and weigh in about 183 lbs. I run a 40 yard dash at 4.6, a 100 at 10 and 200 at 21.2. This Varsity season and last season I have started first string in the positions of Outside Line Backer, Wide Receiver and Safety. At Liberty the Outside Line Backer position is a split of both Line Backer and Safety. The last two years playing defense I have not only posed a THREAT with interceptions to the opposing team but racked up the TACKLES. Playing Wide Receiver again this year I have accomplished a strong stance in yardage, catches and touch downs. I pretty much don't ever leave the field! Last season I was also the front line for Special Teams in kick off, kick return, punt and punt return. During my JV season I was the first in tackles, first in receptions and second as the points leader. As playing part time Varsity that year, in addition to JV, I had two interceptions and six tackles and three solo tackles. My background in football started after finishing three years and one National Championship as a National BMX rider. I entered my second year of middle school as a new football player. Just starting out on a football team, I had two receptions and one touchdown. Outside of school, I played in league called Flag Football Youth League (FFYL). I played in a age group 14-16 and played that group for a few years. My team went to the championship twice and took one championship. As a starter I scored 80% of the touchdowns. This past Spring, as I will again this year, I became a certified referee for the FFYL and enjoyed the leadership position and helping the younger generation of football players. I believe in "team", and I try to become a positive foundation for all my teammates. I provide all levels of support for my teammates on and off the field. I can offer my passion for the game, integrity, and drive for success. Additionally I have the dedication and willingness to fight for the team's goals. My major goal as a college football player is to provide the utmost level of integrity, passion and dedication at any school in hopes to make an impact on my teammates, football program and upcoming players. And of course the dream to become a Pro Football Player. Even with this dream I realize the need to obtain a higher education with a well established college or university. I have an interest in the career fields of Architecture, Education or Drafting (Art) .
