Jawan Ferrell '16 Recruiting Profile

I am a young man from the state of Virginia, trying to become the best that I can be, by allowing God and school to come first. I would truly love to play for a big time college along with participating in some high school all-star games. I have always had a love and passion for football and dedicated my time to improving my knowledge and skills both during the season and the off season.  I have proven the medical world wrong by turning all of my medical setbacks with asthma and allergies, to strengths and becoming a strong athlete.  I have proven to my school that I am a student-athlete with my education coming first and my successes on the field being second. I have learned to be a team player, always encouraging and modeling good sportsman-like character both on and off the field.

I attend Norfolk State University where I am continuing to train on my own and focus on my higher learning until my chance to play on this level presents itself. I completed my first semester on the Dean's List. My parental support, strong morals and values and trust in myself will always be an important key to my success no matter where I go and what I achieve.

My daily affirmation: We are proud African American males, who are committed to excellence. We believe that we have, inside of us, everything we need to achieve every dream we dare to dream. We believe that in order to live life successfully we must live a life which balances our mind, our bodies and our spirit. We will use every tool available to us, including our conscience, self-awareness, imagination, and will power, in order to prevail ourselves into the next paradigm of our existence. If we can believe it, we can achieve it.
