Personal Statement

My name is Luke Wilson and I am a high school senior starting on the Prep football team at Fork Union Military Academy. I have been playing football since I was six and consider it one of my greatest passions. My goal is to a attend a four year university on a football scholarship.

I would be a good addition to your team and university because I have a strong work ethic, discipline on the field and in the classroom, and I strive to do my best at everything. I believe in leading by example so I work hard with the expectation it will translate to my team. I was named co-captain of the Junior Varsity team as an 8th grader and also as a freshman, exemplifying some of my leadership abilities. A few qualities that my coaches have praised me for are my competitiveness, being a quick decision maker at the quarterback position, being accurate with my throws and the ability to step up in a muddy pocket to make the throws.

In the off season, I play basketball during the winter and baseball during the spring. Playing basketball allows me to work on my quickness, speed, and agility. Baseball impacts my hand-eye coordination and pitching improves my arm strength. During baseball season, I maintain my workout regimen for football by lifting weights before school in the mornings. Over the summer, I attend multiple football camps to improve my skills as a way to take my game to the next level.

Not only do I challenge myself to become a better athlete, but I push myself as a person and academically as well. I am enrolled in all honors classes and currently hold a 4.1 GPA. I am involved in my church youth group, the Young Life Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
