Attending college has always been a goal of mine, as I would like to further my education and my football career. In school, sports, and everything I do I work incredibly hard to exceed not only my parents expectations, but the ones set by myself as well. College is my next goal in life and I intend to continue working so that I can achieve my life goals.
When I am out on the field, nothing else matters. I was only in 4th grade when I played in my first football game against the Dublin Cowboys. I was not the best offensive player, so my coach moved me to the linebacker position. As my nerves began to get the best of me, I finally got a hard hit and found a new exhilarating love for the game. Every since that moment, football has been a very big part of my life. It has showed me the importance of practice and determination when trying to achieve my goals. Football has also taught me great leadership skills, as I was chosen captain of my varsity team this year.
As a child my mother constantly worried about me playing football because of my small size, but I did not let that get in the way of my dream. My size just meant that I would have to put in extra work to be the best that I could be. Where my mother always worried, my father always supported my desire to play football. He has always been my biggest role model. If it was not for his guidance and support, I would not be half of the player or person I am today. He has pushed me to strive for excellence in not only football, but in every aspect of my life.
Football is not something I want to pursue as a career, but it plays a significant part in where I choose to attend college. My hope is to at least get the chance to walk on and be a part of something big. The structure, the challenge, and the competition of football carry through my offsets and attitude in the classroom. As much as I love football, I do not let it distract me from my schoolwork. College is the first step on my path to success, as well as the most important one. I do not know what my future holds, but I will work as hard as possible to achieve greatness and make my parents proud.
My experiences in football have shaped the person I am today. From that scared 4th grader to now my fear of being average setting me apart from everyone else around me. I have set many goals for my education and I will not let it get in the way of what is really important.
