My name is Spencer Blackburn. I’m currently a senior and playing football at Meridian High School in Bellingham, WA. As a freshman I became a starter for the varsity team, making me the first freshman to uphold a starting position in 32 years at Meridian High School. I am 6’3”, 260 lbs. and play Defensive End, Middle Linebacker and Offensive Guard. I am also a varsity starter in basketball and compete in multiple events in track and field. I believe participating in these additional sports helps me to remain physically competitive during the offseason and prepare me for my true passion of playing football. My coach Bob Ames has been a real inspiration to me. He is always pushing me to play smarter and try harder. He has been the Head Coach at Meridian High School since 1974. He was inducted into Washington State's Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011. In July 2012, I participated in the Lawyer Milloy football camp hosted by Sports International in Seattle. At the camp, I earned the "Best Defensive Lineman" award as well as the "Gridiron Elite" award. The same year, I also attended the Schuman’s National Underclassmen Combine in Seattle. Because of my achievements at the combine, I was recognized as one of the ultimate 100 and was asked to attend their Combine in California. I also received a Schuman’s "Top Prospects" invite at the University of Oklahoma. I am a highly motivated student athlete. I consistently achieve higher than a 3.0 GPA and take college level advanced placement classes. I am looking to attend a university that gives me the opportunity to do what I love, play football, while I continue to reach my academic goals.
