Personal Statement

I am very interested in taking my athletic career as far as it will allow me. I would love to play Division One football, and then play in the NFL. I am realistic about the odds though. My long term future will depend on how well I do with my academic performance. My step dad is a doctor, my step mom is a nurse, my brother is studying to be a doctor, my step sister is studying to be a doctor, and I plan to study to become a doctor as well. I understand the amount of work, and the dedication it will take to reach my goals, both academic and athletic. I am not afraid of hard work, but rather, I welcome it. The varsity wrestling team at my high school has a program called GUTS (get us to state). Its a morning work out from November through the end of season in February. We run three miles, do wind sprints, then drill wrestling moves for 30 minutes before school each day. If you make every practice without fail (it doesn't matter if your injured, sick, or your grandfather dies) you earn an award at the end of the year. I have earned that award every years since the 7th grade. I knew what it would take to reach my goal, become a state champion. I have won state in the Washington 2A class at 220 lbs my sophomore and junior year. I know it will take that kind of work to reach my goals in college, and in life. I feel I am a good candidate for your school because I am very coachable, I am hard working, I am a team player, and even though I am quiet my team mates have looked to me as someone who leads by example. I am very competitive. I am calm and confident under pressure. I thrive in situations where others seem to buckle. I haven't lost an overtime match or overtime football game yet, see 2014 Cheney football game, and the 2014 Rocky Mountain Semi finals and finals. Based on what I've seen in the news involving a few college athletes, I'd like to reassure you that you won't have to worry about me misbehaving or having issues with the law. No matter where I land I will be looking forward to the challenges. I am very confident and Independent, I won't be looking to run home at the first sign of difficulty. I have a goal, a plan to reach it, and the work ethic to get there.
