Personal Statement
My name is Jack Neary and I am the starting quarterback at Issaquah High School. I dream of playing football at the next level. My strengths are my work ethic, my leadership skills, my footwork, my arm strength, and my understanding of and passion for the game.
As a returning starter I was excited to move to a no-huddle offense. I was successful at making the right reads and adjusting when necessary. I was voted team captain by my teammates and really focused on building a cohesive team. I worked hard with my receivers in the off-season into the regular season, and our hard work paid off.
I earned conference awards as co-'Offensive Player of the Year' and 'First Team Quarterback'. I led a very good Kingco4A conference in passing yards, all-purpose yards, completion rate, and touchdowns with:
- - 183 for 271 (68%) completions
- - 2,581 yards ( 258 yds/game)
- - 30 Touchdowns
- - 5 interceptions
I had a great year leading our team to a 4-1 conference record in one of the toughest conferences in the state, and a 6-4 record overall. Our 4 losses were to top 6 ranked teams in Washington State. While we’re disappointed not to be advancing in the state tournament, we’re very proud of how we handled challenges throughout the year and how much we improved. In addition to the on-field experience, we achieved our goal of creating a very strong team bond with all the players.
I’m a 3.8/4.0 student taking 4 AP classes this year, with 1280/1600 SAT scores.
I am excited to see where education and football will lead me in the future.
