My name is Tomas Stoker, a 6’0”, 235lb. student-athlete who will graduate in 2015. My main position for the Pullman Greyhound football team is nose guard, with some defensive end plays added in. I love this sport, and am extremely committed to doing all that is necessary to playing in college. My goals in high school include achieving a 3.0+ GPA and bench pressing more than 325lbs. and squatting more than 600lbs. For college, I would like to make a significant impact on my football team while studying Computer Science.
At Pullman, we are taught to play with DIRT, and I work very hard to live up to these goals. DIRT stands for:
Determination – necessary to play the full game, giving all you have. It takes determination to drive a double team and determination to chase down a running back. Most importantly, it takes determination to do it over and over again.
Intelligence – understanding what is happening on the field as it unfolds. Intelligence is needed to follow the quarterback’s eyes, understand the running back’s stance, and read the offensive lineman’s stance – all leading to a split second decision that places you where you need to be to make the play. Intelligence is understanding your strengths, knowing your weaknesses, and working to take advantage of them.
Relentless – overcoming adversity continuously, even if it seems hopeless. Relentless means playing hard even when everyone assumes you will lose, hitting hard even when the person blocking you is bigger and stronger, and running hard even when the back you are chasing is faster than you. Being relentless means forcing a fumble, pulling a new move, or finding a better angle. Relentless lets you get the job done when nobody else thought you could.
Tenacious – finish what is started, no matter the obstacles in your way. Tenacious players are still finishing tackles at the end of the game, continue to push against their opponent to get to the quarterback, and never back down during the big games. Tenacious means pushing yourself at all times to complete your goals.
In summary, I am a Determined, Intelligent, Relentless, Tenacious player looking to pursue a degree in Computer Science while playing football in college.
