Personal Statement
My goal is to attend a college/university that will help me realize my potential not only as student/athlete, but as a solid person that will represent my family and community in a positive way. My parents have instilled a work ethic in me to never quit, keep working hard, and never be afraid to ask questions. Any college/university that accepts me into their family will gain a young man willing to learn, work harder than the next person, and strive to be the best at whatever I do. Sports has helped me become a better person as I understand teamwork, accountability, and sacrifice for the bigger picture. Sports has also made me socially responsible for my actions and that I represent more than just myself when I am in public or competition.
I would like to major in the medical field, especially physical therapy and rehabilitation. In high school I have had to go through physical therapy for a shoulder injury, bone fracture in my leg, and most recently surgery for a ruptured appendix. Those individuals where so caring and helpful when I was at my lowest (being away from sports). They helped to make me stronger not only in my body, but also in my mind. They helped prepare me to move forward without fear and that is what I would like to do with my future, help others when physically and mentally they are not at their strongest.
I have been a solid student in high school maintaining a 3.1 average and receiving a 21 on the ACT. I have been able to keep this average while playing 3 sports all 3 years of high school (football, basketball, and track). I have never been suspended from school, was selected by teachers and peers to represent my class on the student leadership committee, and volunteer my time to peer mentor, tutor, and usher at my church.
I want to be the best student/athlete I can be and that only happens with the right college/university helping to guide and care about me as a person.
