Personal Statement
I am Harvey Singleton V, a senior at Messmer High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am 5 feet 10 inches tall and weigh 215 pounds. I have been playing football every since I was seven years old. I discovered my talent for playing football at a young age. My freshman year of high school, I started on junior varsity and I received playing time on varsity. As a sophomore, I started on the offensive line at guard at Riverside University High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I then transferred to Messmer High School towards the end of my sophomore year. According to the WIAA transfer rule, I was not eligible to play my junior year of high school. Even though I was not able to play in any of the games in the 2014 season, I continued to attend practice and team lifts. I could have easily quit the team but I felt as if the team was my other family. I had to do what I could in order to make my teammates better. As I was preparing for my senior year, I became stronger and faster. I was on the offensive and defensive line my whole life. I decided to lose weight before the 2015 season and I became a linebacker. My senior year was the first time I ever played middle linebacker and I received 1st team all-conference linebacker and defensive MVP. I played through the entire 2015 season with shins splints in both legs. I could not let the pain get in between my performance on the field. I showed leadership on and off of the field and my coaches recognized that and made me a captain. I can offer hard work, dedication and leadership to any program. I also believe that any school would be happy to have me as a member of their team.
