Personal Statement
My name is Bruce Mesa Jr. To be successful requires two things, passion and commitment to excellence to achieves one's goals and aspirations. There is nothing I have more passion or commitment for, than to be the best possible student athlete that I can be. I go to school at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, WI, a school known for its high level of academic performance, and for the success that the students there achieve. Catholic Memorial competes in the Wisconsin Classic Eight Conference, a conference considered by most to be the best and most competitive football conference in the state of Wisconsin. My goal for high school is to graduate high school with a 3.5 GPA and to play football at the collegiate level. I have had the passion and commitment to these goals since I started playing football in seventh and eighth grade, where in eighth grade my team, Team Wisconsin, won a youth football national championship.
My freshman year I became the starting left guard on varsity after being a backup for the first few games, and helped my team to a regional state victory in the Wisconsin Division III state tournament. Sophomore year I was the starting varsity left guard again where my team finished as a conference co champion, and we were once again regional champions. This past year as a junior, I was named to the Classic Eight all-conference and Waukesha all-city team, and helped lead my team to the Wisconsin Division III state championship game, where we finished state champion runner-ups. As a senior, I am committed to leading my team back to the state championship and to winning.
As a teammate, I fully understand what it means to be committed to and part of a team, as a team is a band of brothers who work together to achieve. I am passionate enough that I will work hard to be the best possible player, and teammate on and off the field in high school, and in college. In the off-season I throw shot put and discus in the spring, and participate in strength and agility training five days a week. Football is my passion, and I am committed to being the possible student, and athlete that I can at the high school, and collegiate level.
