Personal Statement
My name is Tyler Staerkel. I am currently a senior at Kimberly High School in Kimberly, WI. I am a 6'1", 225lb starting outside linebacker for our varsity team for the past two seasons. As a sophomore, I was given the opportunity to play on varsity and contributed to the success of our team by playing the second half of every game. We are 2014 & 2015 Division I state champions, as well as 2013 Division II state champions. Additionally, we have been undefeated in all 3 seasons. I am a leader both on and off the field. I am the first person to get to the field and the last to leave. I give my coaches and teammates my best in games and on the practice field day in and day out. I am extremely hard working and never skip reps. I am very coachable and take what I am taught and apply it to the field. I respect my coaches and have earned their respect in return. When something is expected of me, I do it. I am very passionate about the game and want it to be a part of my life in the future. I have a 4.16 GPA.
I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and field. I would like to pursue a university with an outstanding academic reputation. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I would learn the defense quickly and I would study and focus hard on the roll that is given to me. I’m not afraid of failure and I learn from it. I am very determined and pursue through tough times. My dream is to play at the DI level, but I would play college football at any college, in any division.
I will continue to work hard both on the field and off in the weight room along with increasing my training and conditioning to be the best player I can be.
