I am an athlete looking to continue my athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. I have realized that college is approaching fast, and a college education will lead to a satisfying career and increase the likelihood of a high quality life. I have also realized that I still want participate in high level, competitive football. Playing football has always been something I have loved. I have been around football my entire life and it has become my passion. The sport of football has been a huge part of my life since the 5th grade, competing on a 6th grade level team as the starting Quarterback.
The characteristics that placed me in the position of Quarterback is my athleticism, my coachability, and desire to win. This desire is demonstrated in my work ethic. I embrace the type of training it takes to compete in high level athletic competition. I am well trained in the use of olympic lifts like Power Clean / Back Squat / Deadlift. I also work with resistance bands in my training. I use ladders for increased footwork and agility. I train to improve every aspect of my athletic potential.
When it comes to school, I work just as hard as I do for football. Education is a very important tool that I utilize and improve at every moment. There are a lot of things I do outside the weight room and field. I have taken all honors classes or AP classes for my entire high school career. I currently have secured through the AP curriculum 18 credits.
In addition to my athletic and educational endeavors, I am also involved in community work. My church takes a group of members to participate Teen Serve. Light cosmetic construction is done at no cost to the owner. Our work will include painting, constructing ramps, or putting up drywall. I have been doing these domestic mission trips for 4 years and plan on continuing to do so whenever possible. Another service group I belong to is the National Honor Society. I have completed my second year as a member of this academic and service organization.
A college education is a significant investment in my success. Like most students I do not have the assets to invest directly. However, I also realize that there are scholarships and grants available for me to obtain by using my athleticism. I still want to play the sport of football at a competitive level. More importantly I want a quality education for a lifetime.
