Personal Statement
I started playing football at the young age of 6 and I haven't stopped since. I have always been a head taller than my peers and enjoyed great success in the game early on. I have real passion, heart, and love for football. I enjoy the camaraderie and brotherhood with my friends and coaches. Football has taught me how to trust in myself and in my teammates. Also, I love the competition and the how physical you can be in this game. Growing up as the middle brother of 3 boys, I have always played hard. My coaches told my dad last season that they are always trying to get the linemen to be more aggressive, however with me, they said they "sometimes need to hold me back". Playing high school football for 2 years now; losing one year in the playoffs and winning State one year, has taught me many life lessons. I've learned through losses to review my mistakes and learn from them, and through victories how far teamwork and work ethic can get you.
The reason that I want to play at the next level is mostly because of great family and coach support. My Grandpa and Great Grandpa both played college football. My coaches saw my willingness to learn and be aggressive and selected me to start varsity for them as a freshman. Again my sophomore year I started varsity and our team went all the way to win the State 2A championship. I was honored to receive both All-Conference and All-State awards after our team's success. I was voted by my teammates to be a captain for the summer lifting program as a sophomore. This early success has built my confidence and experience and helped me to know that I for sure want to go on to the next level after high school. I am looking for a college to help me grow both academically and athletically. After working with 3rd grade students and helping them with reading this year during my last hour, I am thinking about getting my college degree in Education with a coaching certificate. I would also like to consider the possibility of going into the military and serving my country after college graduation like many in my family have done before me.
