Blaine Bishop has been recognized nationally as much for his charitable efforts after his playing career as he was during his time in the NFL, which says quite a bit about all the work he has done off the field. After a Hall of Fame collegiate career at Ball State, Blaine spent 10 years starting as a defensive back in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans, Houston Oilers, and Philadelphia Eagles. He was named to four Pro Bowls and served as a team captain for six years with the Titans. Blaine has dedicated a great deal of his life after football to giving back to the community.
Putting to use his football experience, Blaine has stayed close to the game since retirement by providing expert analysis and coverage of the Titans pre and post-game show on TitansRadio network along with serving as a member of the Harris Interactive College Football Poll. In addition to his football related projects, Blaine has been heavily involved with helping America’s youth in a number of ways. He founded the Blaine Bishop Scholarship Foundation, was named the Boys and Girls Club Alumni Man of the Year in 2001, and is currently a spokesperson for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. His philanthropic endeavors have not gone unnoticed as he received the G.O.L.D. Award in 1999 which goes to the Ball State Alumni who displays leadership in the community and school development. Blaine is hopeful that working with NCSA and delivering recruiting education will further his efforts to help young student-athletes by teaching them how to maximize their academic potential through athletics.
