Brent has been involved in the recruiting process from a number of perspectives. Prospective student-athlete, high school coach, father and author are the various roles in which Brent has experienced recruiting. Brent went through the process as an athlete and wound up playing football at the University of Toledo where he was named All-Mid Conference twice. Based on his collegiate performance, Brent was drafted in the 7th round by the New England Patriots. Despite coming from a non-BCS school, Brent immediately made an impact in the NFL by earning All NFL Rookie Team honors and finished his career as the 5th all time New England Patriots sack leader.
Brent’s post NFL career has been just as successful as his playing days. After going through the recruiting process with his son, Brennan who earned a football scholarship to the University of North Carolina, Brent decided to share his knowledge with other parents. Brent authored the book “Recruit My Son – A father’s guide through the process of college football recruiting” which led to national appearances on Rivals Radio and The ABC are of sports as an expert in the process. Brent currently serves as an Assistant Football Coach for Catholic Memorial High school in addition to being involved with a number of elite camps as a director and counselor. Brent relishes the opportunity to share his wealth of recruiting education with thousands of parents and student-athletes as a member of NCSA’s speaking team.
