Founded in 2008 by Shaon Berry, respected youth football coach and former University of Pittsburgh running back, Junior Rank is a company dedicated to the education, evaluation and instruction of America’s next generation of 6th-9th grade student athletes. Focusing on football in 2010 with plans to expand into basketball, baseball, soccer, softball and volleyball in 2011, Junior Rank offers a one-of-a-kind football combine experience at locations throughout the United States as well as an online component where each athlete can develop their own personal profile.
Combines consist of two 4.5 hour sessions with 6th and 7th graders in the first session and 8th and 9th graders in the second session. Combine skills testing includes the 40 and 20-yard dash, vertical and broad jump and agility shuttle. Performance shirts with the athlete’s testing number and combine bags are distributed and players will have their headshot taken for posting on the JuniorRank.com website with their results.
Based on their results, junior athletes who perform exceptionally at the event will be honored as combine MVP for their particular age group. In addition, athlete’s whose combine scores, position testing and academic component are considered among the best in the region, will be given a 5-Diamond designation and nominated for the All Combine team.
An essential part of the combine experience is the ongoing message of character, integrity, hard work and academic excellence. Athletes are not only encouraged, but expected, to be future leaders of their high school and college teams as well as integral members of their community and society at large.
