Leo Cullen is a perfect example of how being branded a “collegiate athlete” can impact the rest of your life. After his college soccer playing days at Maryland, Leo was drafted first overall in the 1998 MLS Superdraft by the Miami Fusion. During his MLS career, Leo played in over 200 official matches and was named to the MLS All-Star team in 1999. Given his extensive experience with soccer, Leo decided to pursue coaching, and spent two seasons on the coaching staff at the University of Maryland. While coaching, Leo was heavily involved in the recruiting process and developed a keen knowledge of the intricacies associated with recruiting.
Capitalizing on his prior experience, Leo changed career paths and joined Wasserman Media Group as a Director of Client Services. In that role, he recruited two of the past three #1 MLS Superdraft picks, negotiated more than ten million dollars in guaranteed contracts and transfers and served as the point of contact for 40 world class soccer players. No one appreciates the value of being a collegiate athlete more than Leo. He is anxious to teach aspiring student-athletes how they can improve their chances of playing college sports and take advantage of that brand for the rest of their life.
