Natasha Carlucci - Virginia Intermont College
The hardest part of the process I would have to say is to get the ball rolling. Finding NCSA and getting all the paperwork cleared up was the hardest part. Playing travel and school ball sometimes made it difficult to keep up with my monthly journal entries to the organization but I knew they were key elements to being successful in my search for the perfect college and team. I also made sure to keep on top of my grades, and to keep my attitude on and off the field as positive as can be.
The most challenging part for me was to stay calm when college coaches came to watch me play on the field during tournaments and school ball events. I just had to tell myself, "Play like you know you can, have fun, and work hard every moment."
The best part of the recruiting process for me, was definitely signing my contract to play at Virginia Intermont College! :] I loved it when coaches came to watch me play and showed significant interest. It boosted my confidence to a new level, I felt like I deserved being a college athlete.
The best advice I can give is to make sure to stay on top of what you need to do with your profile and monthly reports. When playing at tournaments make sure when you are warming up, you are not goofing off. Show coaches that game time is business. On the field, play like you know you can and work hard! Personally I feel the most important thing is ATTITUDE! If you are down a few runs, don't put your head in your glove. Be a leader on the field, and tell your team to rap it up and get some hits going. Pump your team up, CHEERING IS IMPORTANT (my college coach told me, that my cheering was one of the reasons he recruited me!), do everything that shows you have the desire. Proving that you’re coachable is right up there with attitude!
