Student Athlete’s Name: Michaela Wolf
Hometown: Littleton, CO
Grad Year: 2006
College Attending: Francis Marion University
As a recent high school graduate planning to attend Francis Marion University, Michaela Wolf reflected on her recruiting experiences, the challenge of finding the right collegiate fit both academically and athletically, and how she has set herself up for success.
As a high school student, Wolf had little knowledge about the recruiting process. She was a highly competitive softball student-athlete who had received a few letters from college coaches but wasn't sure where to go from there.
With guidance from the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA), Wolf learned how to proactively seek out college coaches and take control of her recruiting.
Additional advice and support from her high school coach and family enabled Wolf to track all of the schools that were recruiting her and ensure that her NCSA Scouting Report and video were received and reviewed by key coaches at colleges and universities. Furthermore, as Wolf began to take control of her own recruiting, she learned the value of communicating with college coaches, what questions to ask and what information she needed to gather in order to make the most educated decision possible.
Wolf eventually signed to Francis Marion University. She knows she'll have to work hard to adjust to the academic and athletic demands of being a college student-athlete while also being away from home in a new environment.
Though she is just embarking on this new journey, Wolf is already looking ahead to her future beyond college with plans to eventually come full circle and return back home to Colorado.
