Personal Statement
Family, Church, and friends are such an important aspect of my life and I realize that each day as I get older. Basketball has been a passion of mines since the age of 5 during my playing days at the YMCA, and it brings the cycle of my life full circle. I have learned so much about my character, leadership, attitude, and mental toughness of the game that I love. Most importantly I have learned in our quest for a state championship this past season how it's equally as important to help those around you to become the best overall as a team. My sophomore season has provided the most growth for me as a student-athlete so far in my young career. It gave me a different perspective of what I need to do to better myself for the college level.
My goal as a student-athlete is to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher and graduate in the top 10% of my class. My parents both have Master's degrees so I would love to surpass them and obtain a doctoral degree one day, all while playing basketball at the college level. At the age of 1 I was in a serious car accident that nearly took my life. The doctors told my parents that I would never be able to walk or talk and yet I've overcame that obstacle with great success. In knowing that I feel can do anything I set my mind to do. Nothing for me is impossible. I'm interested in a program that will provide me the opportunity to excel both academically and athletically. I believe my character, leadership skills, work-ethic, and overall talent makes me an impact player for your program.
