Personal Statement
~~My expectation for my basketball career in the immediate future is to play Division 1 level college basketball. On the court, I control the game extremely well; have great court vision and ball handling. In addition to being a floor general, I can score the ball from inside the paint, mid-range, and long range. Defensively, though my high school team plays primarily zone, all my AAU teams played strictly man. So I can stay in front of any assignment given to me and also have great hands to get steals. Hard work is the key to being successful and the coach that selects me for their team will get one of the hardest working players on the court. If you want somebody that will bring it every day and challenge for playing time at the guard position, then I’m the guy. This is from my high school head coach:
"Marcus has been a 3 year starter at point guard for the Bruins. 3 years All-Conference and 2 years All-State. His record as a starter is 59-12." (Team was 4-5 in the 9 games he missed in 3 years). "He can impact a game by scoring, passing, rebounding, and with his defense. I wouldn't trade him for any point guard in the state." ---- Coach Roger Franks
Off the court, in the classroom, is no different from being on the court. I work just as hard at academics and even harder on the classes that are more challenging. I’m a member of mu alpha theta math honor society.
Every year I participate in various community service projects. I treat all people with respect and do my best to be a good example for kids my age and younger. As captain of the team for the last couple of years, I’ve been called on to be a leader. In addition, I’ve proven to be very coachable and open to ideas that will help me and my team to improve.
