Personal Statement

I am a senior at Valley Vista High School, playing basketball at PHH Prep (class of 2022). I have been playing basketball since the age of three. I have tried other sports, but nothing compares to the mental toughness that is required for basketball. As a pure point guard, I am recognized for my court IQ and passing ability. I am like a chess player, thinking three moves ahead of the other team. My passes and shots are based on how I determine the opposing team to react to our offense and defense. I am a controlled, calm, poised point guard who can also play a shooting guard with crafty scoring and deep threes. Smaller in stature, I am able to get inside the paint and behind taller players.  I have strong on-ball defense and get my hands in places that disrupt the ball often. I can also be utilized as a 2 or 3. My goal is to play at the college level and then use my passion for basketball to make an impact in the community by either coaching or training future athletes. I have considered sports medicine of some sort or a teacher, to follow the footsteps of my mom.

  • 2022 Xavier Santacasa PG 5’9 140 Valley Vista -Cerebral pure PG with good quickness. The lefty can shoot it from deep plus is quick to get past his defenders. He uses his skill and mind to get the job done. He needs to get stronger in the next few years but has a lot of moxie and game.
  • Camp/Event
  • High School All-American Showcase
  • 2/22/20 to 2/22/20
  • He is a smooth and swift passer on the floor. He hits players in their hands with fluent passes for scoring chances. Has good court awareness and vision and displays point guard skills. He has solid handles and dribble moves. He will let plays develop before attacking the basket or driving and kick to teammates. Will finish plays to the basket playing away from the ball. Decent defender. Has a decent stroke from outside. Work on taking care of the ball. Be more sharper with dribble moves. Handle contact when attacking the basket. Work on hitting the jump shot. Quicker footwork and agility. Learn to get his feet squared up for better shooting accuracy.
  • Camp/Event
  • 3rd Annual Battle in Bullhead
  • 2/15/19 to 2/16/20
  • Xavier Santacasa 5’8 PG 2022 Valley Vista Santacasa is extremely skilled. He attacks well with both hands and shot it at a high level from deep. He has a good feel for the flow of a game and does not try to do too much to interrupt it. However, when he does make the decision to put the basketball on the floor to create, something good usually happens.
