Aaron Sanders '18 Recruiting Profile

Competitive team sports have been a part of my life as long as I can remember.  I’ve just always had the drive to pick up a ball with some of my friends, and then take on others in a friendly game of war.

I’ve been playing competitive basketball since I was ten years old and it’s a game that’s helped shape my life.  Working together as a team, setting goals, sharing in wins and figuring out why we lost have all been part of my basketball experience.  Each year, my team sets goals for ourselves; what we want to achieve and how we’re going to work at getting better each day and each game.  Staying focused on those goals has helped us achieve multiple Arkansas Homeschool championships as well as a Regional and a National Homeschool basketball championship.

Playing basketball has also helped shaped me as a leader.  My coach has named me as a “designated driver”, like a quarterback, to drive the tempo of our games and direct our team’s flow.    Sometimes, my job requires me to coach up or correct one of my teammates actions or position.  Even though I’m younger than some of the guys on my team, I still have their respect to drive the team’s actions.

As I start planning for my college career, I want to find a school that has a family-like environment and matches up with my character and work-ethic values.  A school where I can play the game that I love and use my leadership skills to help the team set and achieve their goals.
