Personal Statement
Playing at Miramar college for the past 1.5 years has allowed me to grow as a person and become a dominant, key player on my team. I am a dedicated, hard-working, team player that loves college ball and has brought my love of basketball up to another level. Since I was five years old playing ball with my twin brother at the YMCA, I have dreamed of playing college ball. I became fundamentally smart and developed a high basketball IQ through my years of hard work.
My obligations are clear to me and I have learned the value of teamwork and commitment. I am fortunate enough to be part of an amazing program here at Miramar, but freshman year I got injured during the actual season. Totally recovered now, this season has started off strong with me being awarded “All tournament player” at our first tournament. As every other basketball player I like to score but, I find playing defense and setting up plays for my teammates to be very gratifying; I am no “ball hog”. I also bring a noticeable difference to the speed of any ongoing game with my strong rebounding and constant hustle.
I am who I am because of my strong family values. I have challenged myself each year academically while also being involved with sports, community service, and folklore dancing at my church. I will always be the player that is supportive of my fellow teammates and is dedicated to our success as a whole. With this I always maintain a respectful attitude towards the players, coaches, referees, and fans. I continue to learn, practice hard every day, and give 110% toward improving my game.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a four year college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!
