During the 2017-2018 collegiate basketball season I was a redshirt freshman with Colorado Christian University in the highly competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. (RMAC NCAA DII) I am transferring to get more playing time and make an immediate impact on a competitive team. I practiced daily with CCU and was responsible as the scout team point guard. I also traveled with the team to every away game. I am an academically sound student from one of the top academic schools in the nation.
My collegiate goal is to be the best that I can be in the classroom and on the court. My collegiate academic goal is to earn a degree in business in preparation for owning a successful business. My collegiate athletic goal is to be the starting point guard on a championship team. My ultimate goal athletically is to play professionally upon graduation from college.
I've put myself in a position to accomplish my goals by committing myself to excellence in all areas of my life. I've improved my game by having many impactful one-on-one sessions with Coach Mychal Martinez who played for UNLV. I've learned the importance of being coachable and being a team player. I have a very disciplined approach to my diet, weight training and sleep.
During the 2016-2017 basketball season, my high school basketball team finished the season ranked 45th in the NATION in assists/game. We averaged 19.2 assists/game. I led my team and was second in the conference with nearly 5 assists/game. I was a team captain and leader of my team. I really enjoyed getting my teammates to believe in themselves. My high school team had one of it's best seasons in school history, making it to the Colorado Elite Eight. I hit a buzzer-beater on the road in overtime to get to the Elite Eight. I am committed to pursuing every goal I set for myself. I am excited about my future!
Sincerely,
Rhys Sayler
