Personal Statement
As someone with a love for basketball my entire life, it shouldn't be a shock that my dream is to play in college and beyond. My life has been defined by this dream, and I have done everything in my power, on and off the court, to make this dream happen, which includes pushing through some of the greatest adversity I had ever known. Last summer, I suffered an injury that rendered me incapacitated for the prime duration of the recruiting season. On the brink of quitting the sport entirely, I decided that was not who I am, and was prepared to do everything in my power to make up for the ground that I had lost. At the end of the varsity season, I earned 3 top honors, the first for my high school: 7A District Player of the Year, All-Conference First Team, and All-Conference Academic. I also set the record for game, season, and career rebounds, and the highest +/- in my school's history. While I am incredibly proud of these accomplishments, I realize that they are only stepping stones onto bigger and better things. I currently play for IMG Academy because I want to thoroughly develop with a year of professional training and experience before offering my talents to a college program. I can guarantee to any coach reading that if you are looking for a player that is willing to do whatever he can for the good of the team, experienced in pushing through adversity, and disciplined enough to focus and be able to juggle athletics with academics, then look no further.
