Personal Statement
I'm told that my love for basketball started on my second birthday when I got a miniature hoop and I have obsessed about the game ever since. I played on my first basketball team at age six and was selected to played AAU ball with the Seattle Rotary Style program under Coach Daryll Hennings. My family left Seattle and moved to Hawaii where I have played on the varsity squad since my freshman year.
My success on the basketball court is exceeded only by my academic achievements. I started reading when I was three and have always had an inclination for numbers from a young age. Scoring in the 95th percentile on the SAT, I have always been a step ahead of most of my classmates.
I have spent countless hours working on my basketball skills and academics. Lessons I've learned from my coaches and teachers include hard work, goal setting, teamwork, problem solving, thinking on my feet and sacrifice. I have always been self-motivated and hard working. These principles have helped me develop athletically and intellectually.
If you're looking for an outstanding player that is prepared to learn and work hard both on and off the court, I respectfully ask that you consider me as your top choice.
