Personal Statement

Hello I am Georgios Tarlas and I am going to talk about my personality and who I am .

I grew up in Greece and I came in US one year ago , I've been playing for my national team and my high school team in european championships and world championships . All these games have been really important to me as I got a lot of experience as a player and I saw a lot of different players and how they play . I was a 4 sport athlete but I had to choose which it would be the most competitive sport for myself. I stop doing Karate as I got the black belt and I focused on basketball a lot more . Playing the game I have learned something really important in my life it's when you have to give an assist but is a hard pass and you trying to distract the defense and pass the ball as hard as you can on the "backdoor" is a risk that you have to take but you have to give everything you have using your brain at the same time . Meaning not being afraid of failing.

My academics goal for High school when I moved to US were to keep my grades up and learn more about the language and words that I knew in Greek but not in English . My college goals that I am trying to achieve , to choose a major that is going to help me in my future ,such as Health ,Engineering , Business , Kinesiology .

I was injured with my ankle for 6 months total and it was a rough year being optimistic and working hard to be ready when I got back . The one obstacle is that I have to accept that I don't have time for fun with my friends but I forget about that when I am on the court . Also I've moved and changed 3 different High schools because of my parents and I always had to compromise myself in a new team and I also had to  not accept to play for my national team this year so I can play tournaments around US and get more experience about the american basketball. I was always trying to make the pass automatically trusting my teammate even if he has lost the last 5 shots , and I always had to deal with a double or triple team on the post because I am strong ! Also I like getting rebounds too but basically my athleticism is one of the things that is impressive .
