I started in sports like any other youngster would. I did the t-ball, soccer, wrestling and Football. My first basketball game was when I was 7 and my dad signed me up for city ball. I continued participating in the many sports available through school. At the age of 12 I knew that my passion was basketball and that was where I wanted to put my focus.
My parents supported and encouraged me 100%. They found trainers to assist in my basketball skills and when the time was right they found club ball tryouts for me to participate in.
I lived in a very small community attending a 3A school. I enjoyed going to school there but wanted to be in a much more competitive surroundings. I spoke to my parents about moving to Pocatello so I may compete in a 5A District starting my freshman year. Again, they supported me and we made the move.
During my freshman year shortly before basketball tryouts I was involved in an accident. I suffered a TBI. This injury was difficult and basically required me to start anew with my basketball. This part of my life was the biggest obstacle I had to overcome. Today, I am 100% recovered but it took determination, dedication and hard work. You can read about the story here on page 6: Dylan Anderson: A Success Story – Portneuf Medical Center
I was always a driven person but I would have to say this accident has changed my outlook on life. I am a strong minded individual who works hard to accomplish my dreams. I am dedicate, determined and very passionate with all my goals that I have set. I am excited about college so I may move forward into the next chapter of my life and I hope to play some ball while I'm getting there.
