Personal Statement
One of my primary goals growing up has been to get a college level education. My parents have told me since day one that going to college and receiving my degree will open many more doors in my life. Now that it is time for me to find a college to attend, I have the capability to play a college sport as well. I want to take advantage of this opportunity to the fullest because playing sports is something that I thoroughly enjoy. However, I do realize that in order for this to become a reality, I need good grades. I have been an A-B student my entire life and scored a 28 on the ACT. I have a 3.6 cumulative GPA for my high school career. I also volunteer in the community at local churches and food banks. I have been playing basketball my entire life and have began focusing on it even more since my high school career began. As a freshman, I started on the sophomore team and was a primary scorer and our team was conference champs. Sophomore year, I played both varsity and sophomore and was our go to guy on both ends of the court. I am a 4 year varsity player and since my freshman year our team has had the most wins in three years in school history and has finished top three in conference all three years. Unfortunately, we have not been able to move past regionals though. I was a team captain freshman and sophomore year. On my AAU teams, I have always been our team's best shooter. I average 3-4 3's a game and had a career high of 8 in a championship game of an NY2LA tournament. For the past two years I have had the honor of being a player/coach at the Curley Boo Johnson's Skills for Life Basketball Academy. The camp is known for the player/coaches to be the best players in the central Illinois area and there are even some coaches from out of state. I also play football at tight end and defensive end.
