Personal Statement
I attend Lincoln Park High School, in Chicago IL. I'm in my fourth year in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, and maintain a 3.59 and above GPA. I really started playing a couple of years ago, and I have skillfully grown to match and exceed my peers who have been playing long before me. I view myself as a student of the game and a fast learner. I have always been seen as coachable and a hard worker on the court. I've been playing/training year round for the past few years. I was a member of the Meanstreets Select AAU team that traveled and placed at national tournaments in Las Vegas, and the International tournament in Orlando. I played 17U ball under Coach Kyle Mason with Meanstreets Select and finished strong last summer. I have been taught under a variety of coaching styles and specialties. I view myself as a well rounded player. I can play Structured basketball, and have been taught to play "inner city" basketball as well. At some point in my life I have played every position on the court. At a younger age I was taught post moves, and how to play under the basket, later in my career I have learned to be successful at the guard position. During this past summer, I have sharpened my shooting skills and ball handling ability, to really be interchangeable on the court. I work very hard at playing both sides of the basketball, equally aggressive on offense and defense.
I appreciate the discipline required to play the game well, and the opportunity to show my ability to balance both mental capabilities and athletic skills.
