Personal Statement
I have the intangibles it takes to be a great point guard. My court vision is quick and so is my response to what I see. That's my job and I take it very seriously. I have studied and worked hard on how to make things happen at the key and with my team mates to produce a team win. I'm extremely strong, very quick and hard to guard. I take high pride in my defense and play 100% on both sides of the court.
My faith is also helping to shape the man and athlete that I am becoming. Between my family's support and my drive to get better each day, my hope is to play and compete in collegiate basketball at the highest level possible.
I have learned self-control, discipline, hard-work, leadership, encouragement, and persistence to never give up. I have learned a lot about basketball, but basketball has taught me even more about myself. My hope is that I will become the best basketball player I can be and the best young man I can be, both on the court and off the court.
However, while I strive to be the best basketball player and young man I can be it does not stop there. I have learned recently the importance of being a student-athlete. I have a desire to not only go to college, but graduate from college with a degree that will propel me into a promising future. Academics have not always been easy for me, and that has been discouraging, but much like on the court I will not give up in the classroom. I believe Michael Jordan said it best: "I can accept failure, everybody fails at something, but I cannot accept not trying." My goal in life, basketball, and relationships is to give each area everything that I have.
