When I was in the second grade, I began playing the game of basketball. Throughout my career in the sport, I have learned many different concepts and terminology for both life and basketball. Basketball has taught me how to always work hard in life and never cut anything short, because you are only cheating yourself from becoming the best that you can be. I want success for not only myself, but also for others, and I will work as hard as I can everyday to master my craft in order to put my team in the best position to win every time we set foot on the court. I also want basketball to be able to become a platform that I can use to reach other people and speak to those that need motivation, spiritual help with Christ, or anything that they may be going through. I feel like the game can teach me these things in an incomparable manner.
I strive to do my best in everything that I do. Every day possible I will prioritize my work in the classroom and get my grades before I work on any basketball. I do not like B grades, I only like A's. Therefore, I will strive to be the best I can be at all times pertaining to school! On a daily basis, I am constantly going to the basketball gym or weight room to train myself to become better. I work with NBA trainers and players to improve my game and gain insight and terminology for the game on its’ highest level. Many of my coaches have referred to me as the hardest worker they have ever seen. The constant hard work is starting to show when I play on game night. I have struggled with confidence in the past. I am glad to say that, recently, I have finally started to break out of my confidence struggles, which is really helping me see a whole other level to where I can go with my game. I dream to get a scholarship for basketball and I know that this is not given. Everything is earned and that is why I have sacrificed girlfriends, parties, vacation, and other things in order to put more time into my game so that I may continue to develop. I would love to help my parents with college fees in any way that I can, and basketball and/or academic scholarships are certainly ways that I can help.
I am a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ. I choose to live by my faith on a daily basis and attend church weekly. I strive to be my best personal self everyday. Lastly, I love to lift my teammates up and have fun with them whenever possible. I feel like when I can help others succeed, that I will be better off personally.
Today, I am constantly working hard on a daily basis to improve my game. I have a vigorous schedule for workouts and games. I try and do some type of weight training at least 5 days a week and do conditioning 2-3 days a week. Skill work is also something that I work on 4-5 days a week in order to keep sharpening my skills! I am usually in the gym at a minimum of 6 days per week, but often 7. I stretch and do intense rehab on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
To sum it all up, I want to be able to be part of a competitive collegiate basketball program with a coaching staff able to help me tap into my abilities to help me further develop both as a person and a basketball player. I want to play at the highest level and demonstrate a hard work ethic at all times to best prepare me for that level. A kid that loves hoops can describe me quickly, but I understand that grades come first. I love basketball and would do anything to play on the biggest stage one day. I love the life skills that it teaches and the teamwork characteristics that it builds and displays! I want to win and do it as a unit!
P.S. It is a dream of mine to be able to play at the Division 1 level. I believe that I am well prepared, and continuing to prepare, both physically, and mentally for that level of basketball.
