Personal Statement
My ultimate goal is to play basketball in college, though the most important thing is academics. I plan to major in something that is related to sports. I love being around sports and doing anything on the the court. I would without a doubt say that sports are my favorite hobby. My life has always had sports in it for as long as I can remember. I plan to keep sports in life for as long as possible.
My freshman year of academics was a huge learning experience. I wanted an academic challenge that would push me, and require everything from me. Throughout my freshman year I thought I would be able to push things off and wait till the last minute to do my assignments or work. All during middle school, I never really needed to study for tests so when I went to high school I never really studied. Ultimately by the end of my freshman year these two monumental mistakes caught up with me. Even though my freshman year was by an academic stand point a failure, there was a success in another area. I gained the mental maturity that I needed in order to succeed. I learned the study habits that I now have in order to do well on tests, as well as the time management skills that I now use in order to get my assignment done on time and well done. Looking back on my freshman year, it was a really hard time but in some aspects I am glad that it happened. I mentally matured a lot during that time period and I know for sure I would not be where I am today without it.
I love playing basketball in the state of Indiana. Basketball is a huge tradition in Indiana and barely anything can compare to those Friday night basketball games. Basketball is a phenomenal sport because it is such a team sport. When your team needs you it gives you the ability to step up and make the shot that your team needs, grab the rebound that gives your team a chance, or be that defensive spark that translates to everyone else and gives them energy. I would love to be able to play basketball in college and use it to pay for my education.
