Devon Merder '14 Recruiting Profile

Hello Coaches.....I am a 6'3" 175 lb. combo guard. It has been my dream since I was 5 years old to follow in my Dad's footsteps and play college basketball. As a freshman I lettered as a reserve varsity player who split time between JV and varsity. As a sophomore I started a few games but was primarily the 6th man on a senior oriented team. My role during my sophomore year was to shoot the ball and bring defensive energy to our team.  Going into my junior season I was the only returning varsity player and we finished 14-8.  I was fortunate enough to lead our team in scoring and rebounding and with all starters returning we are very excited about this season.  I am a strong leader on & off the floor who leads by example. I am always the first to practice and games. My goal is to be a student athlete at the highest level that my skills allow. Academics will play a key role in my college decision. I would like to major in the field of Sports, primarily Sport Management. From a basketball perspective I would like to have the opportunity to compete for playing time right away but will do whatever it takes to help my team win and to become a better player.
