Personal Statement
Playing college basketball in the US has always been a dream and goal of mine, ever since I was exposed to the reality of college sports in the States. I came to America to spend my senior year, in the hopes of finding an opportunity to play college basketball. I have played basketball since I was around 6 years old, and I fell in love with the game being around my dad's teams because he played both professionally and semi-professionally in Italy.
As an athlete I always strive to be better and I love to practice and work on my game. I have a good basketball IQ that allows me to find open teammates on cuts and after drives, I'm a consistent shooter both off the pass and of the dribble, off the screen or from the kick out. On offense I move well without the ball and I can be efficient and effective without many dribbles. I can guard multiple positions and I'm a very good help defender. While on the court I'm very loud, calling screens and communicating with my teammates, I'm a silent leader out of it, even though I really like talking in practice to push myself and the people around me. I never had any problem getting along with coaches, changing coach almost every year.
As a student I've always had really good grades and haven't had problems maintaining them. Other than the classic subjects, such as math, science and so on, I also have a preparation in ancient latin, ancient greek, philosophy and everything around those: history, art's history, ancient theater, poetry, oratory. Even if these are not in my plans for college, having this kind of preparation has widened my mind and gave me an effective studying method, which is appliable to everything.
I think that I can bring diversity in a campus, which my experiences studying away from home have taught me is always positive.
As for my other interests I like being involved in activities and I love watching sports.
I hope I will be able to find an opportunity to join the fascinating world of college basketball, while also finding the right college to reach my academic goals.
