Personal Statement
I was in 2nd grade when I walked in my parents room and sat down and watched tv. They were watching the NBA Finals Miami Heat vs San Antonio game. Watching that game made my heart beat in a way it never did before. It was a good feeling, and at that moment I knew that I wanted to play basketball. I realized that I like to move silent so no one really knows how much I've developed until I'm on the court. I hate losing, especially to teams that I know we should've won. Losing games to better competition is even worse. With that being said I realized with myself I need to be successful in life. Most of all, I learned that I'm a leader. At first I wasn't confident on leading a team, but because of my skill and talent and love for the game my teammates and coaches look up to me during tough situations. I'm not fully there yet, but I am making progress.
My academics are good, but I want it to be great. Therefore, the goal is to graduate with a 4.0 GPA in high school. More goals I want to achieve are academic scholarships as well as earning college credit. My goal is to pursue a career into sports medicine. An obstacle that I needed to overcome was changing my position from a low post to a guard. Within one year I had to learn how to be a point guard. I'm a versatile player so I got confident in handling the quickly. But, I still need to learn some aspects of being a point guard. However, I know that my position is being a guard. I'm a very disciplined kid that is coach able and mature. My motto is to always defend the basket and score and look for teammates at the opposite end.
