Personal Statement

I am a 6 foot 7 Junior (entering the 2015-2016 school year) I am a very driven student-athelete who believes my education and basketball can be one. I am a student who knows if I don't make the grades my coaches/teachers can prevent me from playing the game I love. As a freshman I maintained a 4.0 GPA most of the year ended the year with a 3.88, (still maintaining 3.8 and higher)  I received KHSAA All-State 1st Team, showing that being a student-athelete is VERY important to me and my goals. I want to end high school with a GPA of 3.8 or higher and play basketball at the next level. I am working hard to achieve my goals for myself. I'm in the gym every time the doors are open, if it's practice, open gym, extra time whenever I am there. Being the BIG GUY (they say) I can shoot under the rim, mid-range and even hit the 3 pointers. I have been told I have great basketball IQ, I feel my fundamentals are good, I have good court vision, I play as a team mate, I believe no matter how good or bad of a game your having to have to do what it takes to keep your team/coaches pumped up. (I got my 1st Varsity start December 2014 as a sophomore)

As a freshman (2013-2014) I started and even landed a spot on the JV team. My character I feel is good for a young age, I have worked with many Autistic children in our community and raised $30,000 for the Autism Center here in my hometown at Western Kentucky University, through my work I received the 2011 Jefferson Award. I love helping people understand that we are all different but doesn't mean we can't be treated equally, for instance alot of Autistic children/adults are non-verbal, as a young leader I feel people don't realize we can be a voice for those non-verbal people. I feel like that alone shows alot about my character and leadership roles.

I do play AAU, for W.AC.G./Team Corey Brewer - 2016 TEAM COREY BREWER JOINED FORCES WITH W.A.C.G.(as I felt this was a better opportunity for me to grow and strengthen as a player - while playing for Team Corey Brewer we played in some very impressive tournaments such as Best of the South (Atlanta), Under Armour Finals (Atlanta), Havoc on the Hardwood (named player of the game in the Semi-Finals) (Greensboro, NC). Again, I love this sport, I love who it makes me.

I hope this have given you some insight on how much the classroom and basketball court mean to me, I just want to go to school maintain my good grades, focus on basketball and graduate and play at the next level.

Thanks,

Dylan
