Personal Statement

I am a unselfish floor general with travel and varsity team experience. Varsity team ranked top 50 in the state and made it to the Boys- Sweet 16 semifinals at Rupp Arena!  I am a great defensive to offensive player, more quick than fast with a high motor.  I am a skilled lead guard with great penetration, facilitation and communication capabilities and the ability to finish around the rim with a 3point threat with my quick release.I am a unselfish playmaker with great distribution which is best in transition. I am a aggressive back court defender with court awareness. My basketball IQ , defense and facilitation puts my team in position to compete, score and win. I am truly an extension of a coach on the floor.  I put the team first so I defer to others. I can fit into any team especially a team that puts the team first. Yes I can score 20 but if that doesn’t put my team in a position to win then it is not the route that I am willing to travel. Great uptempo game. I am aware when to hold the ball or move to score quickly depending on certain game situations.  I always keep the defense guessing  with the extra pass that I am willing to make to assist.  My strength is my basketball IQ  with my three point shot, the extra pass, defense, rebounding from a guard position, and play execution.

He's a tough kid that plays the game with great pace. He's methodical in his approach as he looks for ways to pick the defense apart. Jaunte showed the ability to score at all 3 Levels, Using his ability to stretch the defense with long range shots, that kept them off balance which allowed him to get into the lane and to the basket early and often. Jaunte used his great vision to effective find open teammates for easy scoring opportunities. Jaunte was also effective on the defensive end harassing the offense and forcing them into bad shots or turnovers. Next in Jaunte development will be to become a more consistent rebounder and defender. Sometimes he was noticed to have drift in and out of focus when off the ball. Jaunte must continue to get stronger and talk more while on the floor.

  • Made it to the final four. The KABC Titans Shootout brought lots of the top talent from Kentucky to Shelbyville for teams to compete during the first June live period weekend. I caught action from start to finish on Saturday and these were my 2025 and 2026 standouts from the host state. Woodford County lost superstar Jasper Johnson to national powerhouse Link Academy, they still managed to make it to the final four of the 64 team bracket. Jenkins was impressive with his quickness and ability to get into the lane. Best when the game was going up and down, the faster the tempo, the better Jenkins was. Able to finish through contact with acrobatic finishes at the rim and make dump passes to his forwards, Jenkins was tough to stop with a head of steam going to the basket. I expect Jenkins to receive scholarship interest next spring and summer if he continues to develop as a prospect.

  • Sophomore Season recap
  • 6/13/23 to 6/13/23
  • After an action-packed year of high school basketball action in the Bluegrass State, it’s time to look back at some of the most explosive performers from last season. Today, we will be continuing my “Bluegrass State Standouts” series as we begin to breakdown some intriguing rising juniors, beginning with point guards. Without any further ado, here’s my list of the top 2025 point guards in the state of Kentucky to keep an eye on this upcoming season. At number four on my list of outstanding players is Jaunte Jenkins , a 6-foot-2 point guard at Woodford County High School. Jenkins was an explosive weapon for the Yellow Jackets during his sophomore season of high school basketball last year. In 35 games, Jenkins was one of the more efficient scorers and rebounders on the team, picking up a grand total of 196 points and 50 rebounds, averaging 5.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. Jenkins additionally shot 44.0% (73-166) from field goal range, 37.6% (35-93) from beyond the arc and 53.6% (15-28) from the free throw line. With impressive size, speed and explosiveness on both sides of the floor, Jenkins made significant contributions to the boards last season and will be an intriguing point guard prospect to keep an eye on this upcoming season.

I’ve lost count of the amount of steals he has. Great instincts along with quick hands + timing when guarding on the ball. Has 12 points in the first half of this game. 16U @cavegymeliteky had 6 players in double figures with a 87-75 win over NKY Elite to advance to the FINAL 4 of the Championship bracket. • Jaunte Jenkins (Woodford County (KY) H.S. 2025): Jenkins is an aggressive 6’2″ guard that had his offensive talent on full display through the Indiana Prospect Showcase on Sunday evening. After playing a role off of the bench for Woodford County, who advanced to the KHSAA Sweet 16 semifinals less than two weeks ago, the skilled guard showed what he can do against some of the top talent up in the Hoosier state. He has a smooth pull-up jump shot, is excellent driving the ball to his right hand, and has good size in the backcourt. Definitely a name to watch coming out of the state of Kentucky.

  • Selected Top performer at the showcase. Prep Hoops Kentucky @PrepHoopsKY · Sep 17 Juante Jenkins of Woodford County is showing a nice skill set at #PHTop250 today. Guard has potential for sure. With all the talent at Woodford County, it would be easy for JJ to get lost in the shuffle. On Saturday, Jenkins looked like an impact player for the Jackets this season. The long sophomore showed he can create his own offense or get teammates open looks. He’s a 2025 to keep eyes on this season for sure.

A very capable shooter from 3. He is a tough defender out on the wing. Look for him to play a nice chunk of Varsity minutes this year and be productive.

  • Awarded MVP and granted a invitational to Atlanta and Florida. Player Evaluation: One of the best players at camp. He has a quick release on his shot and has a nice stroke from outside. Good ballhandling ability to create his own shot. A decent and active penetrator on offense. A good contact guard that facilitates and moves and cut well without the ball. A guard that goes hard on both ends and does a great job of getting after loose balls. Runs the floor well in transition. Best defensive to offensive player at camp. Must get quicker with his shot and footwork. Continue to work on your handle and dribble moves. Sharpen your court vision. Build up strength to handle bigger guards. He's got a legit shot to play at the college level!
