Personal Statement

I’ve been playing basketball since I was 5 years old.  Since grade school, I always desired to play on the collegiate Division 1 level.  I’ve always been a hard worker pushing myself from local clubs up to AAU / Travel Team basketball playing the point guard position. I’ve been known to have strong abilities for dribbling and change directions with both hands, manage the game being a high IQ floor general with tremendous passing skills creating shots for other, finding the open man and making my teammates better.  I’m able to create my own shot and can finish with both hands.  I play both ends of the floor have good lateral movement and play tenacious defense.  My skill set, and abilities has also gain me the opportunity to play varsity basketball as a Freshman and guide the team as a starter and team caption on my way to becoming the only Freshman to receive Honorable Mention honors for league and city.  I like to think that some of my off the court activities of volunteering at local youth camps working and coaching so that I can see thing from a coaching view so as I play I can have a better understanding of what my coaches want and expect of me.   I hope working with the youth, that have same basketball desired as myself also provide you with some insight on my teamwork qualities and wiliness to help other mentality of the type of person I’ve become.

I have Full games links below from both High School and Travel Team to assist with evaluation

  • Kyree Banks, of Clinton (MD) Surrattsville HS, is a 5'10 145lb 2020 prospect from our Fall 2018 DC camp. College coaches on camp staff identified Kyree as having division 1 potential. Kyree has a good wingspan, which can be more effective with active hands/feet. Additionally, the prospect appears to have solid size for position and should use their size to be a pesky defender. The very talented passer does a fantastic job distributing and seeing the floor. The player is always anticipating when and where teammates will be open, a highly coveted trait in the team sport. In terms of ball handling, the prospect showed a great handle and is on the way to being a primary ball handler. Basketball IQ was one of the player's greatest strengths routinely making the right play at the right time. There was a great emphasis on making the right play, which will be a big advantage in recruiting and separating from others. A big part of IQ is shot selection. Kyree does a great job of understanding when there is enough time and space to shoot the ball and will continue to develop this knowledge by watching how this is done at various college levels. Making the extra pass and taking only open in-rhythm shots proved to be a reliable asset for the prospect. The prospect showed they were an extremely reliable shooter throughout camp. Shooting will continue to develop with form shooting and made game speed repetitions. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day off the screen(curl/fades), off the bounce, spot shooting, etc. The talent impressed finishing around the rim through contact and in traffic. With continued work finishing through traffic with either hand, adding even more finishing moves, the player will continue to be a grave threat around the basket. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quartile of competitors. The prospect showed a solid level of strength. We would like to see continued strength development whether it is via traditional strength training means or body weight military type development(pushups/pull-ups). Combined with the player's decent frame, we expect the player to really develop with continued work in the weight room. The talent showed a very good motor (highly coveted skill by college coaches) that remained mostly active on possessions and from what we saw, the player showed physical and mental toughness throughout camp. The player showed a great understanding and effort on the defensive side of the ball and should continue to focus on individual and team defensive concepts emphasized at camp. Kyree has division 1 potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on the hardwood. Can play the 1. AAU Team: Team Nationals.

  • Kyree is an Elite score who can finish thru contact at the rim as well as shoot the ball with range. He also has the ability to make tough shots off the dribble. If he spends time in the weight room and get stronger he has the change to be a really good D1 player - Coach Bob Gallager 315-209-8491

College coaches on camp staff identified Kyree as having scholarship potential. Kyree has a great wingspan that gives the player the potential to be a lock down defender and can be even more effective with active hands/feet. The prospect's Basketball IQ definitely stood out at camp and proved to be really good. Through continued emphasis on making the right play through watching/learning the game, it can be a big advantage in recruiting. A big part of IQis shot selection. The talented player has very good athletic ability for size and age. ScoutsFocus would like to see continued development in speed/agility and vertical development. Jump rope drills are great full body conditioning drill we highly recommend if not ready for a rigorous weight-training program. The prospect showed a solid level of strength.
