Personal Statement

I have aspired to play competitive basketball at a higher level, since I was a young kid playing travel basketball. The experience of playing point and being a part of great teams that compete together; that work hard together; that do what it takes to win together - has helped shape me and prepare me for what's next in life.

I am going into my senior season. I am co-captain and the starting point. We had an incredible run last year. I was a starting guard - playing both the 1 and the 2. We finished 20-2 as a team. Our success was truly a team success. As a sophomore I was the starting point guard on a JV team that went 18-0. As a freshman I was the starting point guard on a team that with 17-1. I was award the coaches award in both my Freshman and Sophomore years.

I am a true point guard. I have focused my game on play-making; moving the ball and aggressive defense. My coaches have described my style of play as "making the team around me better".

I play year round for my high school and AAU program which takes me to national tournaments, like the Gym Rat Challenge and the Rumble in the Bronx. My AAU team won the state championship this past Spring after an incredible run in tournament play. I also play football on a team that made it this past season to the division 2A state championship.

For me playing collegiately means hard work, discipline and structure. This is how I approach basketball and that work ethic helps me be a better student. Basketball has been a defining part of my life, both on the court and off. The principles that make the player, shape the student and the person I have become. I want to be part of a team program that shapes and defines the experience I have as being part of my collegiate experience. I want to be a leader on and off the court.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
