Jaakko Juusela '21 Recruiting Profile

I’m  Jaakko Juusela, a basketball player from Finland, Class of 2021. 

I am a 6’3 Freshman guard for the University of the Sciences and I have entered the transfer portal because our school is merging with Saint Joseph’s University. I am looking for a new school where I can play and study for next year. 

I have experience of playing with the Finnish youth national team and for Wilbraham and Monson academy in NEPSAC AA (2020-2021). I went to Mäkelänrinne Sports High School in Helsinki (2017-2020), and my basketball team was HBA-Märsky (Helsinki Basketball Academy).  

During this year as a freshman at USciences I didn't get much playing time for the first half of the season but as the season proceeded I was able to get a starting lineup spot. I play point guard and I have always been a true team player. My strenghts on the court are leading the team and getting open shots for my team mates. I go hard on defense and I can defend in multiple positions. I also score behind the 3pt line and I can attack the basket. 

I see my future in  playing for a good Div 1 or D2 college basketball team.  I see myself increasing student athlete diversity and athletic talent for my team at College. I am very motivated in developing on all my skills. 

My plan B is to study business at college.
