Personal Statement
My name is Michael Sypniewski. I am a 6'3" PG from Marquette Academy in Ottawa, IL. I have been the starting PG for 3 years on the varsity team. My senior year stats included 14.2 ppg, 5rpg, 3apg, 53% FG, and 90% FT. I led our team to an undefeated conference championship with a record of 8-0. We finished the season 22-9. I have earned Tri-County All Conference 1st Team (by unanimous vote), THE TIMES All Area 1st Team (by unanimous vote), Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-State, and chosen to play in the Illinois Valley All Stars Game.
In January of my junior year in high school I was diagnosed with ADD. With the help of my doctor, parents and teachers, I developed a plan to organize my daily schedule which allowed me to complete my assignments on time and study my course work on a daily basis. Prior to the diagnosis my GPA was 2.59, since my diagnosis my GPA has steadily improved and my senior year GPA was a 3.54. I now know what it takes to be successfull academically.
Since graduation from high school in May 2015, my parents and I have decided to delay my entrance into a university and attend the post graduate program at Bridgton Academy in Bridgton, ME. I just completed by basketball season, in the highly competitive NEPSAC conference, and earned a 3.5 GPA for the Fall 2015 semester. As I complete my school year at Bridgton, I know I am gaining confidence, both in the classroom and on the court, as well as valuable skills that will allow me to excell at a university and in life.
