Personal Statement

My goal as a collegiate student-athlete is to earn the right degree that will help me begin a successful life as an adult in our society, as well as enjoy playing the game I love for an additional four years. I am a great candidate for your team because I am able to adapt to and learn systems very quickly, along with being an exceptional teammate. I am different from other recruits because I am able to bring out the best in other players when I step on the court. Along with the fact that I give 110% in all aspects of the game.

  • Prep Hoops - Buszka is an extremely polished player that just makes smart basketball plays. He is very versatile and knows how to get the job done on either end of the court, playing a sort of point forward position. On defense he talks, calling out pick and switches and rotations. Coming into the game off the bench, he immediately was the best player out on the floor. Making smart decisions and using his high basketball IQ mixed with his refined skills to impact the game in a positive way. He works hard for offensive rebounds and isn't afraid to get physical. His midrange game is effective as well. NAIA schools should have already offered him full-rides in hopes he doesn't get a Division 2 offer.

  • First Time" MVP's according to Prep Hoops Michigan . The 11th Annual Bank Hoops Minicamp took place on Sunday at Aim High in Lansing, Michigan. Over 160 prospects attended and were able to showcase their skills in front of a variety of D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO coaches. Below are 4 prospects, one from each grade, that Prep Hoops Michigan finally was able to get an extended look at yesterday for the first time. These 4 played exceptionally well and were awarded with "Newcomer MVP's." Junior: Brennen Buszka - 6'5 - SF - Grosse Point South Although he was labeled as "5'11 Carlton Wourman from Maryland," in the roster booklet thanks to a number mixup, coaches and scouts all knew who Buszka was. Getting our first real good look at him, it was easy to come away with all positive things to say about Buszka. At 6'5 he has enough next level height as a wing right now, but with his dad being 6'9, a few more inches suddenly doesn't sound like a stretch anymore. Buszka plays extremely hard and never gives up on plays. It was evident during scrimmages as others on the court stopping running back on fast-breaks, but not Buszka, as he was able to collect garbage points on offense and prevent easy buckets on defense just by hustling. He is a smart player with the ball in his hands on the perimeter and understands spacing and how to get to his spots. This skilled 2017 small forward is at the point where it's not a question if he is going to get Division 2 offers, but rather what GLIAC school is going to offer him first.

  • 6’4” 2017 wing Brennen Buszka (Grosse Pointe South, MI.) first jumped on the radar as a sophomore with GP South where he was a do all player on an experienced team of upperclassmen. Buszka was an efficient starter who played multiple positions and was a stat filler. That continued throughout the spring with MWA Select 16u before moving on to the Michigan Warriors in July where he continued to find his role without putting up gaudy numbers. This past Sunday, he showcased court vision getting teammates easy buckets on post feeds, kick outs for perimeter and mid-range jumpers, and finding the lane fillers on fast breaks. He’s a good athlete who rebounded hit the offensive glass and boxed out on the defensive end where his ability to push the ball in an up and down atmosphere helped his production. Buszka also showed his ability to score from the mid-range in games and shot the ball well from the perimeter in drills. His hustle plays to keep his team’s possessions alive also did not go unnoticed. With a father who is 6’9”, one shouldn’t be surprised if he continues to grow. Look for double-doubles this upcoming season.
