Personal Statement
My parents are positive influences in my life who have taught me to work hard in order to be successful in all aspects of my life. They support me in my endeavors and the goals I want to achieve. My athletic goal is to achieve a D1 athletic scholarship. My academic goals for both high school and college are to maintain a high GPA of 3.5 or higher. I will achieve this by continuing to participate in class, complete homework assignments and study for quizzes and tests.
I have played basketball, soccer, baseball and football starting at an early age. However, over the last couple years, I realized I truly enjoyed playing basketball more than the other sports. At the age of twelve, I decided to focus on improving my basketball skills and participate in personal training to improve my abilities.
I’ve learned I need to work outside of the gym to become stronger and to increase my endurance and speed. Through outside training at ETS (Englebert Training Systems), I set the records at the age of 12 for my age group with a 26” vertical jump, 4.62 pro agility and a 1.70 – 10 yard dash. In addition, I set records at Acceleration North at the age of 13 with a 30.5” vertical leap, 9’2” broad jump and 4.2 pro agility.
I feel that my team and my coach can depend on me to give 110% in the classroom as well as on the court. I feel I also have unique physical characteristics such as well-rounded basketball skills at a young age, above average height (6’5”) and currently a 35.5” approach vertical which all contribute to my ability to play up and make the East Ridge Varsity Basketball team this season as a freshman. I take pride in playing defense, I can guard all five positions and am working on being that lock down defender my coaches want me to be.
